The Westport Young Woman’s League and the Westport Library have partnered to screen the award-winning documentary The Mask You Live In. The film follows boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while negotiating America’s narrow definition of masculinity. Experts in neuroscience, psychology, sociology, sports, education and media also weigh in, offering empirical evidence of the “boy crisis” and tactics to combat it. The Mask You Live In ultimately illustrates how we, as a society, can raise a healthier generation of boys and young men. (2015, 1h 37m)
The screening will be followed by a moderated talkback. Panelists include: Harold Bailey, Jr., Sherry Minniti D’Elia, Douglas Moser and Dan Woog.
Doors open at 6:30pm. Movie starts at 7:00pm. Open to the public. Admission is free.
